The Baskatong - loads of fun all year long

While the Baskatong Reservoir established its reputation for quality fishing, it has, over the last few years, enjoyed an enviable standing thanks to its beautiful beaches and diversity of water sports. Every summer, thousands of families converge on the Baskatong, staying in outfitter lodges, trailer parks and campgrounds that are dotted along the banks of this scenic lake.

While most who visit the Baskatong drop in a line to fish, the area offers up a varied list of outdoor opportunities. The shores of the Baskatong are ideal for strolling, swimming, tanning, canoeing or going for a spin in a pedal boat.

Many of the outfitters of the Baskatong are located on some of the most beautiful beaches in Quebec. The more adventurous head out to the open water to windsurf, sail, water-ski, kayak and sea-doo.

For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there are nature walks, berry picking or bird-watching. There is also a trail system for quad (ATV) enthusiasts and trails in the forest as well for pedestrians.

And don’t forget your camera, you never know what you’ll see!

During the winter months, the Baskatong is the hot spot for snowmobiling. The trails run across the lake and the huge ice formations are something to behold. Many of the outfitters open year-round for those who love to go on snowmobile and quad expeditions.

The Baskatong is in close proximity to the La Verendrye wildlife reserve and the ZEC Bras-Coupé Desert as well as several of the natural attractions of the Raftsmen’s Road (Route des Draveurs).
