Adventure on the Water!

If you’d like to have an active vacation that stands out of the ordinary why not take a canoeing or kayaking trip. Thousands of paddle enthusiasts visit the area annually to travel its lakes and rivers.

Although the Wildlife Reserve is the favourite spot of canoe-camping enthusiasts in the Gatineau Valley, the southern sector also has a vast network of lakes and rivers ready to entice amateur and skilled canoeists. The Eagle, Desert, Joseph and Gatineau rivers are excellent for canoeing.

If you do not own a canoe you can rent one at most outfitter lodges, campgrounds and other local businesses in the area. Some local specialty businesses offer packages for white-water rafting, canoeing and hydro-broncs.

Maniwaki will once again host the Festival d’eau vive, August 27nd - 29th (White Water Festival). This regional festival is organized in collaboration with the provincial canoe & kayaking federation.

The program includes activities for all categories of canoe enthusiasts, family activities and much more. This is a weekend not to be missed.
