A variety of excursions

Discover the area on foot, by bicycle or by boat. Whether it’s for a few hours, the whole day or a few days, the choice is yours when going on an expedition in the Gatineau Valley.

On Foot

Nature walks are wonderful, but it’s important to do so in a safe environment especially when you are with children. Safe and secure walking trails are available throughout the territory from the north end to the south.

There are three trails in the Wildlife Reserve, 1km, 2.3km & 3km long. These are not only pleasant but educational as well.

In Maniwaki, a boardwalk has been built along the Desert River while in Ste-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau, the Centre d’interprétation du cerf de Virginie has more than 12 km of well marked trails.

At the northern end of 31-Mile Lake you will find the Pont-de-Pierre, with its geological anomaly and 2km of trails. In Aumond, the Centre de la nature du Lac Castor has several kilometers of trails and the Eagle Forest has over 15km of hiking trails.

By Bicycle

The Linear Park trail has a 60km network of trails running north-south that is safe and secure for the whole family. You may also take interesting side trips on quiet secondary roads.

By Boat

If you’d like to see the area on one of its magnificent lakes or rivers, a pontoon ride is a must. (guided or not). At this time, you may rent a pontoon or enjoy an excursion on most notably Blue Sea Lake, 31-Mile Lake or the Baskatong.

Horseback Riding

Discover the area on horseback. Choose an hourly package or spend a day or two out on the trails.

Berry Picking

If you are interested, the region has several farms that offer the ‘pick your own’ option. Mid-June to the end of July is strawberry season, with raspberries beginning usually in mid-July to late July. Of course, wild-berry picking is also available depending on the area.
