Parc des Draveurs - The Raftsmen Park
A theme park for the popular heroes

They are popular heroes in Gatineau Valley legend... the legend of those who has built Québec with the strenght of their arms, by the sweat of their browes and, often, at the peril of their own life.

Almost 200 years ago, they were among those settlers who laid the foundations of a new region, the Gatineau Valley.

To pay tribute to these men, to make sure they are never forgotten, the City of Maniwaki has created the Parc des Draveurs (Raftsmen Theme Park) and the Log Floating Interpretive Center in its downtown area.

The theme park is dominated by a giant steel sculpture of a raftsman, from artist Donald Doiron. This work of art shows a raftsman at work in a perfect description of the historic way of floating the logs on the Baskatong Reservoir and along the Gatineau river.

Log Floating Interpretation Center
All around the giant raftsman, ten historic notices testify of the days over when these men were building, at the same time, the region's history and the region's economy.
